Here are the correct ways to clean the Coolant Storage Tank:
Preparation
Purchase appropriate coolant cleaning agent, protective gloves, goggles, funnels, liquid collection basins and other tools and materials in advance. At the same time, make sure that the vehicle engine has completely cooled down. It is generally safer to wait for 1-2 hours after parking.
Draining coolant
Find the drain bolt or valve of the coolant storage tank, place the liquid collection basin under it, slowly open the drain bolt, and drain the old coolant in the tank. After the drain is completed, close the drain bolt.
Add cleaning agent
Pour an appropriate amount of coolant cleaning agent into the storage tank. According to the instructions for use of the cleaning agent, generally add a certain proportion of cleaning agent per liter of coolant, and then add an appropriate amount of clean water to fully mix the cleaning agent with the water.
Circulation cleaning
Start the vehicle and let the engine idle for 15-20 minutes to allow the cleaning agent to circulate fully in the cooling system to dissolve and remove scale, rust and other impurities in the storage tank and the entire cooling system.
Draining the cleaning fluid
Shut off the engine, wait for it to cool down, open the drain bolt again, and drain the cleaning fluid into the liquid collection basin. After draining, rinse the storage tank with clean water 2-3 times until the drained water is clear.
Adding new coolant
Using a funnel, add new coolant that meets the requirements of the vehicle to the storage tank and add it to the appropriate position of the liquid level mark. After adding, check the cooling system for leaks.
