1. Engine Shutdown & Sufficient Cooling
- Ensure complete engine shutdown – park on flat, solid ground.
- Wait for cooling system to cool – at least 30 minutes to 1 hour after shutdown.
- Touch engine hood to gauge temperature; proceed only when it feels cool.
2. Protective Gear & Area Clearance
- Wear protective gloves and safety goggles – guard against residual pressure accidents.
- Clear dust and debris – ensure clean working environment around the cap.
- Prevents impurities from contaminating coolant when opening.
3. Slow Turn & Pressure Release
- Cover cap with thick cloth – press down gently and turn counter‑clockwise half to full turn.
- If hissing sound indicates pressure release, stop immediately.
- Wait patiently until internal pressure is fully released.
4. Full Opening & Proper Securing
- After pressure release – unscrew cap completely to check fluid level or add coolant.
- Tighten clockwise – until a locking "click" is heard.
- Ensures cooling system is properly sealed.
