What should be considered when filling the coolant storage tank

1. Cold Engine Status & Safety Precautions

  • Ensure equipment is cold – never open the cap while the engine is hot to avoid scalding coolant spray.
  • High temperatures create high internal pressure; opening prematurely can cause severe burns.
  • Wear gloves and safety goggles to protect against accidental fluid contact.

2. Correct Type & No Mixing

  • Use only manufacturer‑recommended coolant – different brands and colors have varying chemical compositions.
  • Mixing is strictly prohibited – can trigger chemical reactions, producing sediment or corrosion.
  • Severe cases may clog cooling micro‑channels, causing temperature control failure.

3. Proper Filling Technique & Level Control

  • Use a clean funnel – pour slowly along the tank wall to minimize air bubbles.
  • Monitor scale markings – keep fluid level strictly between MIN and MAX marks.
  • Do not overfill; leave expansion space for high‑temperature volume increase.

4. Air Purging, Circulation & Leak Check

  • After filling and tightening – start engine and run heater for several minutes to circulate coolant and purge air.
  • After shutdown and cooling, recheck coolant level; top up if necessary.
  • Inspect surrounding hoses for any signs of leakage.
